I’ve always liked the slogan, “Opinion rules the world.” The 15,000 is a chronicle of opinions I’d like to have more heft in the neighborhood. I’ve lived long enough to realize that silence has great value. I think it’s the great growing space pregnant in the seed before it blooms. And then you talk.

Every month I’ll be writing on a topic related to our films: production, distribution, exhibition. Or I’ll follow inspiration, desperation and other burrs under the saddle to talk about cinema, art, society … the gamut.

I’m hoping to hear your views. I only know my own and so I’m at a disadvantage. You are 15,000 and I am one. The only way we can make progress is if you are as candid as I try to be. If you make an honest effort to cut through the mist and tell the truths you’re capable of I’ll continue to do the same.

Let’s agree not to spare each other’s feeling. The hurt at finding out others don’t see you quite as favorably as you do yourself is a sharp spur. You fight it and fight it and all of a sudden you find yourself doing what you fought. Maybe it’s not too late to change… for you or for me. But if it is, I’d rather have a brilliant enemy than a clueless friend.

I’ll also be informing you where our films are going to be shown and how to buy them on this Web site. You may already know what I think about the exhibition and distribution systems which dominate the Arts these days. To call them moribund is to praise burnt toast. We have to get out and sell our own work if we don’t want to end up making theirs. If you like what I’m saying or admire our films… buy a few. They’re important. They’re made with honest and passionate actors, artists and technicians with a single mission: to observe, to experience, to express, to inspire! With your support, we can change the way films are made and what they have to say. This is our mission. We hope it will also be yours.
